Rainbow Cake!

I have been wanting to try this recipe for a while.  Check it out!!!!
Here is how it's done...

First you need
You will also need eggs and oil for the cake.  Follow the directions on the cake box and mix the batter in a large bowl.  Next you want to divide the batter in to 6 small bowls.  I used a 1/3 measuring cup to do this.  Once you have all the batter divided you need to mix the colors.  These gel colors are much brighter than the liquid food coloring.  Mix blue and red to make purple.  Directions for orange are on the box.  Add coloring until the colors are as bright as you would like.  It should look like this...

Next you need 2 9in pans sprayed with cooking spray.  Use your 1/3 measuring cup and start with red.  Fill the measuring cup with red and dump in the center of the pan.  Then do the same thing with orange.  Make sure you dump the color in the center of the previous color.  Continue with yellow, green, blue and purple.  You will see that you have enough of each color to do about 1/3 c in each pan.  You will do the same thing in the other pan EXCEPT layer the colors in opposite order (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red).  IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT!!!

Bake the cake according to the box directions.  I found that my cakes cooked for about 22 min.
When finished cooking let cool before icing.  You can use ANY KIND of icing you choose.  I used -

Place one cake on a plate and ice the top and sides well.  Next place the other cake UPSIDE DOWN on the first cake (this will make the top flat).  Ice the top layer.

Now here comes the big reveal! Slice in and get a piece!!!
ENJOY!!!
